Three tips for Marketing Success

1. Do what you've always done: if it's worked for the last 20 years why wouldn't it work for the next 20? Forget about anything new and innovative and stick to what you know. Belittle all those who claim they have ways of connecting to your customers over "the internets." We all know it's just a series of tubes.

2. Tell your customers to shut up: your customers are always trying to give you feedback, help you improve, and let you know where your opportunities are. Tell them to shut their pie-holes. What good could possibly come from listening to those whiny brats anyways? Just because they have great ideas and tell all their friends about everything you do well (and poorly) doesn't mean they can tell you how to run your business. This is capitalism after all, and if they don't like it they can (and will) shop somewhere else while you build the greatest business on earth doing things exactly the way you want.

3. Don't be too exciting: everyone knows that remarkable is forgettable. I mean, who remembers the last time a business totally amazed them? See, that's what I thought. Stick to the boring and dull. There's nothing sexy about a rotary phone, but it gets the job done and that's what you should model your business after. Slow and steady win the race, after all.

Did you find yourself nodding in agreement with any of these? If so, we need to talk because this is just about the exact opposite of the sort of things you should be doing to grow your business. Happy April Fools.
